Paintings
Saturated layers of acrylic and oil, tears of rice paper, and blots of paint come together to form subtle imagery as your eye moves across the painting. Some of the pieces are easily recognizable shapes and faces, while others simply convey a feeling and are open to interpretation. Veronica’s paintings express emotion, with subjects that cannot be judged on proportion and accuracy, but are meant to induce feelings in the viewer. This allows her art to be appreciated by varying personalities. Layers of paint and rice paper give depth; each layer bringing you further into the painting. The rice paper is delicate and transparent, using the natural grain and veins of the paper to give the piece substance and texture. She believes the rice paper adds a texture that paint cannot.

“It’s a technique derived from momentary passion and desire for balance between forms, in a world where balance is rare.”
